Sober Corps is an operating arm of the American Academy Initiative.  American Academy Initiative’ mission is to dramatically reducing American prison incarceration through the education, meaningful employment, holistic living, and spiritual development of at-risk chemically dependent young people.  American Academy Initiative was formed in 2004[1] as a “think tank” to work on figuring out what to do about the growing population of disadvantaged, chemically dependent persons.  Specifically, how to strengthen their recovery process and prevent continual downward spiral often leading to prison time.

Sober Corps grew out of American Academy Initiative as a dynamic and new way to strengthen the recovery process during a persons critical first year of recovery.
