WHY SOBER CORPS?

IN AMERICA

  • Too many young people drop out of chemical dependency programs and AA or NA—relapsing, never achieving even a few months or a critical year of sobriety.

  • Too many at-risk young people do not have financial or logistic access to qualified help that could provide stability and hope to their recovery.

  • Too many young people consequently find themselves in trouble with the law—DWIs,  minor offenses, etc.—which later escalate in real crime—jail, workhouses, etc.—a downward spiral.

  • Too many young people are ending up in “hard time” prison because of this downward spiral—nearly 80% of all those incarcerated in state prisons have chemical abuse factors explicit in their crimes.

  • And in America we keep building prisons at a faster rate than population growth.  And in  America we incarcerate more  people per capita than any other nation in the world.

We need to stop the downward spiral BEFORE people end up in prison

We need to

START A MOVEMENT
